When you take your dog to the beach

A walk on the beach or in the Danish nature is a true sensory experience for your dog, but how exactly are the rules now?
Basically, your dog should always be on a leash.

It is possible on several beaches to release your dog, from October to March. However, it is still important that you have control over your dog and that you can call it to you. A stray dog can stress other wildlife, and may annoy other beachgoers.

On the other hand, you must keep your dog on a leash on the Danish beaches from April to September.

Always remember to read the signage on the specific beach, as on some beaches you have to have your dog on a leash, all year round.

A good idea is to always stay up to date  The Danish Nature Agency’s website>>

DOGS AND SALT WATER
When you let your dog bathe at the beach, it can risk swallowing quite a lot of salt water. Pay attention to your dog afterwards, as with large amounts of salt water there is a risk of salt poisoning.

It is always important to be on the dot with the same things that we are with ourselves on the beach trip.

  • Avoid heat stroke and remember fluid. Possibility of shade
  • If we have areas without clothes and fur, we may need sunscreen
  • Pay attention to hot cars and asphalt
  • To avoid drying out the fur and skin due to the salt water, you should wash the dog in a good dog shampoo afterwards.

Really good trip to the beach for you and your four-legged friend.
