A wet and dirty dog

Do you sometimes take a very dirty dog home from the walk? So dirty you can barely see it? I often have – very often!

My dog is a labrador! In many ways a REAL labrador. One of those labradors that jumps in potholes, lakes, streams, canals and streams – or just big puddles. One of those kind of labradors that always goes through instead of around. One of the kind of labradors that dig big holes – preferably right after a swim, so it can all get really disgusting. Yep – that’s my dog. And it’s great to see my dog unfold like that on the walk. If she could laugh out loud, then I’m sure she would. Because she LOVES to run, swim and dig.

I also can not help but smile at her. There is a great joy in seeing my dog give it full throttle.

BUT WHEN WE COME HOME…

Yes, then it is that it is suddenly not so festive anymore. So for me! For my dog does not care. So I taught my labrador that after a dirty walk, there follows a walk under the water hose. Otherwise, I can not do much other than clean indoors. Totte, as my lively labrador is called, stands up in front of the water hose and then she gets rinsed off. It has taken some time to familiarize her with the water hose. We started with small steps:
  • Careful rinsing of paws while she was on leash and harness
  • Cord, harness and a little more speed on the water hose
  • Harness and water hose – here she is becoming completely familiar with the task
  • No harness, just a finger on the back and forward with the water hose
It would be a shame to say that she thinks it’s great – but the task is accepted.

SOMEWHAT CLEAN - BUT STILL SHAKE WET

My labrador is not that good at shaking. That is, she can figure it out technically! But it is obviously not important for her to get a lot of water out of the coat. So even though she is shaking, there is still a lot of water left.

I have previously used a plain towel. It’s super good, but after just one drying, it’s extremely dirty and needs to be washed.
Now I use the Scruffs Noodle towel. Seen with my eyes, it’s a great product. It sucks both water and dirt super well. And it’s easy to use. And when it’s dry again, I shake it well, and then it can easily be used sometimes before it needs a trip in the washing machine.
